With finite resources, society must develop alternative food systems in light of the scale and urgency of feeding the world. Through this course, students will explore how food production and consumption can be adapted to meet the future needs of the global population.

Students will also examine emerging technologies, social behaviors, scientific breakthroughs, business practices, and global governance. Developing innovative food futures will contribute significantly to ensuring that all people have access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food at all times. Governments, NGOs, researchers, and the private sector have created potential solutions to address these challenges and transform agri-food systems to be more socially just, resilient, and sustainable. To understand the environmental, social, and economic impacts, students will critically evaluate these different strategies and proposed solutions.
