Drones are becoming increasingly familiar to us. Even though drones are fun to fly, they are not toys. The use of drones or UAVs is increasing among governments and companies for gaining insights into nature, agriculture, and metropolises, among other things. In agriculture, small drones/UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Systems) are used for crop observation, crop monitoring, field analysis, and map generation through aerial surveys. As the available software and ‘mission planning tools’ market continues to grow, so does the demand for knowledge and understanding about their uses and limitations.

This course will teach you how to plan an end-to-end drone mission (from image acquisition to data visualization) and how to execute a drone mission safely. After finishing the MOOC Drones for Agriculture: Prepare and Design Your Drone (UAV) Mission, you will have gained full understanding of the aerial mapping workflow and how to implement it in a programmable small drone.
